Giant Women On the Rampage
Big 'Uns # 2
What do you do when a story is TOO GOOD? That's a problem AC's editorial staff ran into in preparing Giant Women On the Rampage Big 'Uns # 2. In the wake of our successful and popular, all-girl GTS anthology, Big 'Uns # 1, three of our (the pun is unavoidable) BIGGEST giant woman fans Steve Richards, Jeff Bembaraon and Chris Ousley, set out to create a giantess concept that they hoped would be good enough for inclusion in Big 'Uns # 2. Under stern guidance from that tough taskmaster, AC editor Mark Heike, the talented trio set to work. Some months later, sterling scribe Steve (who did most of the actual writing, getting plot input from Jeff and Chris) turned in a story titled Isis. Since neither Mr. Richards nor his cohorts were experienced comic-script writers, the story was completed as a prose piece of fully-rendered fiction. It was extremely well-crafted, epic in scope, with solid character development and a strong plot. It had all story elements tightly worked out, running pell-mell toward a satisfying conclusion. The only problem with the story was that it ran 30-plus pages long, single-spaced. The story and concept were exactly right for Big 'Uns, but to adapt a novella this involved and detailed into comic book format would translate to a graphic novel of HUNDREDS of pages. Yes, plot could be edited down to a manageable size, but that would involve cutting out a lot of strong ideas and deprive a reading public of Steve's finely- crafted writing.
We'll admit that for awhile, we didn't know WHAT to do with Isis, although we loved it, and we knew a GTS-starved fandom would, too. AC Comics is not normally in the business of running straight prose material, so although we considered printing it in Big 'Uns in it's entirety, that didn't seem quite appropriate. And, truth to tell, since this concept was developed by Steve and the gang as a vehicle for a comic-book character, they were a little dissappointed when we initially declared it too long and involved to be adapted as a comic.
As we started pre-production for Big 'Uns # 2, we were still undecided as to what to do with Isis. But, in a phone conversation with co-creator Jeff Bembaron, a scheme was hatched to put the story to it's best use. We would serialize Steve's prose story, and make chapters available to several of our most-supportive fan sites, to appear in rotation on those sites on a weekly basis, (along with promo and ordering info and teaser art on Big 'Uns # 2) to help spur interest in the upcoming release of Giant Women On the Rampage Big 'Uns# 2. A new chapter of Isis will appear online every week, (along with information as to what site to go to for the NEXT chapter, as well as the PRECEEDING chapter, for latecomers) right up until the release of Big 'Uns # 2, in the last week of October. And where will the climactic conclusion of the Isis story be found? Not on ANY web site, nor anywhere in prose form but WITHIN the pages of Big 'Uns # 2 itself, drawn up in comic book format!! Now, readers who DON'T choose to follow the serial online will likely enjoy that final illustrated concluding chapter as a stand-alone story, but they will miss out on all the depth, background and history of the character that Steve and Co. have worked into the story.
So buckle in and get ready to enjoy the ride. Follow this saga from exotic, ancient Egypt right up to contemporary times and into the pages of Giant Women On the Rampage Big 'Uns # 2, as AC Comics, Steve Richards, Jeff Bembaron and Chris Ousley proudly present Isis!!

She hated to "pull rank" like that but she could not see any other way to get back into the tomb. Iris always wanted to gain respect without help. Her father had made many friends in high places yet this was the first time she was going to take advantage of that fact. "Maybe I ought to give all this up." She thought. Iris had been in Egypt for most of her life. Occasionally, she would go back stateside to get sponsors to fund her projects. She had no other family. She had been here in the ancient section of Memphis for the last two years excavating what looked to her to be the city's main temple. Some other archeologists had come to respect her knowledge of ancient Egyptian religions and had consulted her a few times. However, that was the exception and not the norm, a female just did not get any respect in this field.
Iris realized from what information she could decipher from the tomb is that it belonged to a high priest named Uukbah. This was a strange tomb because most high religious officials were buried next to their king in another structure. This was the first time a person of this importance was found at a known temple. This tomb, however, did seem to be much older than other tombs in the area. She was frustrated that she no longer had access to the tomb. Its further examination would reveal how old it really was. Iris turned to the photos Publicher gave her. The wooden coffin was still intact and had many symbols on it. Almost all mummies were wrapped, placed into a very decorative wood coffin that was usually carved in the likeness of its owner, and then placed inside a massive stone sarcophagus. Not much of the wood survives over time, especially since grave robbers usually get to the tombs before archeologists do.
Looking closer at the photographs, Iris could make out the Isis cult symbol at certain places on the coffin lid. She could barely make out the inscriptions but it looked like each mark represented a temple location. Three of the marks had a cartouche around it meaning they were more important. She took out her magnifying glass and read one of the hieroglyphs that looked familiar. "Memphis!" That cult mark represents her location. Curious, Iris dug out her father's notes from her footlocker. She remembered three different temple sites they were at when she was a child. Her father made a detailed map of their locations. Iris unfolded the map and placed the photos on top. The location of the three sites on her father's map matched the pattern of three of the cult marks in the photos. However, the scale was different from the photos to her father's map. "Time to make a new map." Iris said to herself. Every photograph that was taken of an artifact had a meter stick beside it to show its exact size, it was common practice and these photos were no exception. Soon, Iris had a new map drawn the exact same size and scale as the wooden coffin lid in the photos. All of the information from her father's map was also included. "Looks like I just found out where four other temples may be." She figured that these might have been temples that Uukbah could have been responsible for but there was something else in the photos that puzzled her. Iris could barely make out an inscription that said, "May the high sun guide you to the power of the stone." She didn't know what that meant, but she was curious why old Uukbah, obviously a man of great importance and wealth with his tomb full of riches, was wearing only a simple copper trinket.

A few years passed by and Isis was proud of what she had done. The city of Memphis and its tremendous palace and temple were built. Isis even sent for Uukbah and assigned him to be head priest here. Wars were no longer an issue for Isis kept the men of the kingdom busy building great structures. Any invading army would have to deal with her terrible wrath! Isis felt wonderful. She had total control of the land and of her little crystal dream. Isis even discovered that silk was the only material that would grow with her. This allowed her to have many types of outfits to wear. Isis was just careful not to get them wet! As she traveled around the new kingdom guiding the people towards a more prosperous future, many of the craftsmen in some cities would fashion giant gold jewelry for Isis to wear. They did this to appease their goddess in hope that Isis would bless the settlement and never stomp it into dust. Crime was still a minor problem but it was not as rampant as it was before Isis took control of the land. Many criminals met unpleasant deaths in her giant hands as she passed her judgments. Isis often enjoyed these moments when she could find new ways to playfully kill a man.
When the time felt right and Isis was sure that the entire kingdom was running well, she would appoint a king to whom she would control. Right now, man still held the psychological upper hand in the minds of the populace as a choice for a leader. Isis planned to gradually lead the kingdom to a female dominated society. However, she knew if she introduced these concepts too soon, it might not turn out to be very agreeable to the public and she could lose control. Although fear can be used to her advantage, it makes a lousy ruler. Besides, time was on her side. Isis planned to manipulate policies over time to give women more power over men. She would then replace the king with a queen who would carry on her plans for a perfect society. Once this was accomplished, Isis would then repeat the entire process on another kingdom and yet another. She predicted this domino plan would give her control of all the known kingdoms and lands within ten years. If there were more lands discovered, so much the better!
The day was a wonderful sunny day. Isis was not very tall this day; she was just big enough to straddle the great palace in Memphis City. She had chosen a king to rule this kingdom. Isis had found a man, who was very shy around women, what a perfect king to manipulate! Uukbah would relay her demands to him and he would make them law. After all the ceremony and pageantry, Isis proclaimed this man king of all the lands of Egypt and messenger of Isis. She then, very gently, placed the tiny crown in her fingers on the head of her little king. When she finished, she picked him up and held him high in her palm for the city to see. The crowd around the palace and in the city threw up their arms and cheered and a great celebration began. Isis then lowered the tiny terrified man to the gates of the palace. She giggled at his predicament as he jumped off her hand and tumbled onto the ground.
It was at this point that Isis noticed Uukbah waving at her far below. Moving her open hand over to him, he cautiously stepped on the warm, soft flesh of her huge hand. Isis then brought him up to her ear to hear what he had to say. "My goddess!" Uukbah shouted as loud as he could. "Your temple in the Oasis City has been finished for three years. Before I begin my responsibilities here in Memphis, please give me the honor of showing you its splendor and celebrate the very place where you first appeared to us!" Isis was surprised at the offer. She had almost forgotten about the little city in the south. It had been a long time and she had not returned there since she discovered the power the moon had on her dream. She spoke to Uukbah. "I will grant you your request. Meet me here at the palace gate just after sunrise tomorrow, we will leave then. Tonight I will stay here and celebrate this occasion." After Isis set Uukbah down, he smiled to himself.
The next morning, Uukbah waited at the palace gate. A loud thumping of giant footsteps announced Isis's arrival. She was bigger this day; she could easily hold a small dwelling in her hand. Isis lowered her open hand and Uukbah climbed on. "Our journey begins." She said and Isis stepped carefully through the city, over its walls and out across the wilderness. He was so small; Isis could barely feel Uukbah sitting in her palm. Uukbah looked up at Isis and marveled at her beauty. Even though he had difficulty taking her all in, those old feelings for her started to come back to him. Isis glanced down and caught her little passenger gazing at her. This wasn't the first time she noticed the effect her beauty had on men. She had always used her looks to her advantage when dealing with the opposite sex. Isis lifted her open palm holding Uukbah up closer to her breasts to give him a much closer view. "This should make him a little nervous." She thought smiling to herself.
The journey took about half a day. When she arrived at the Oasis City, she noticed that it seemed more empty than full. In fact, the damage it suffered the last time Isis was here was not repaired. She walked over to the oasis pool and saw a wonderful ornate temple. Two large pools flanked its sides. Isis lowered Uukbah down next to the temple. She then took off her jewelry, laid it down next to Uukbah and slowly diminished in size until she was normal height. "What has happened to my city?" She demanded. "I'm sorry goddess." Replied Uukbah. "After the two kingdoms had been united, this place ceased to be important for trade. Many left to find opportunity in the northern kingdom. You have freed them from fear of attack. I am afraid that there are not many left here." Isis sighed. "No matter, I still love this place." She walked over to the oasis pool, took out her glowing crystal from her cleavage and laid it on a rock. Isis then stripped herself of her clothes right in front of Uukbah and jumped in the water! "Ahh, it is just how I remember it!" Uukbah was totally surprised at what she just did. However, he barely managed to maintain his composure. She was still closer to that strange jewel than he was and his plan was working so far. He did not need to act yet, but what a beautiful woman!
Isis climbed out of the pool and put her clothes back on. She did not return her dream to her bosom but kept it clenched in her left hand. "Now show me my temple." She commanded. Uukbah showed her the splendor of his design, the intricate stonework, graceful carvings, statues of her, and all the wonderful gold and silver ornaments. He explained how he turned her two massive footprints into reflecting pools to highlight the architecture. "What a wonderful temple you have given me." She said. "You have done very well!" "Thank you my goddess." He said as he bowed to her. "But what a pity that this wonderful place no longer has many people to come to worship me." She added. "Even now it is empty." A smile crossed her face. "I know what I will do. I will pick this beautiful temple up, foundation and all, and carry it back with us to Memphis where I will add it to my temple there." "You honor me with this idea." Uukbah nervously said. "However, before we depart, please permit me to offer my goddess wine in celebration of your return to Oasis City." Isis smiled. "Why not? I may not be back here for a long time."
Uukbah took down a silver pitcher from a shelf next to a golden statue of Isis. "This is the best wine that this city has to offer. This will officially christen this temple as the first in your name." Uukbah then poured the wine into a solid gold cup. He bowed and handed it to Isis. She took the wine in her right hand and said. "To my trusted servant Uukbah who has built me a wonderful temple." Isis took a good long drink. The wine was very good. After finishing the cup, Isis set it down. "We must go now." She said. "I wish to be back in Memphis before nightfall." Isis took four steps towards the door and stopped. Her vision blurred and the room started to spin. She lost her balance and reached out to grab a table, dropping her glowing crystal in the process. "What is wrong with me?" She thought as she tried to focus on the floor searching for her dream. She saw a glowing object and reached for it but Uukbah's foot kicked it away from her grasp. "What are you doing?" She yelled at him. "I am saving my people." He said. "I poisoned the wine. I loved you but I love Egypt even more." Isis sank to the floor, her heart was racing and her breath was getting short. Across the floor, she could barely make out her dream. She started crawling to it but collapsed. Isis looked up into Uukbahs face. "I really didn't want to have to do this." He said. "You left me no other choice. I could not let you destroy our way of life. I could not let Egypt die." Isis closed her eyes and breathed a final sigh. Uukbah stood there a few moments and then added. "If you would have let me, I would have loved you more than I loved Egypt."

Uukbah was getting concerned. It had been almost half of a season and Isis was showing more and more benevolence. Just fifteen days after Isis had assigned him high priest, he had started to expand on the present temple to enlarge it and turn it into Isis's new temple. However, as soon as she realized what he and his men were doing, her huge foot went crashing down on the entire structure, pulverizing stone and brick to rubble. She then commanded him to build a grand temple out by the oasis pool where she used to gather wood. Uukbah could not understand why but he obviously had no choice. Isis ordered an army of men to work on her temple, checking progress each day. If the structure seemed to be going up too slow, she would order more men to help. He also noticed that Isis would be at different sizes. Sometimes she would walk through the city only two or three times taller than the tallest palm tree. Other times, usually when she was proclaiming directives, she would be large enough to step over almost the entire city.
Many women and some men had now started a cult and started to openly worship her. They totally threw away all the old teachings and respect for the other gods of the land. Isis had also granted freedom of the women from the will of the men, most of the male populace was against this, Uukbah included. He was still attracted to Isis despite her new size but he feared she would only bring ruin to the city and corrupt the discipline that gods and kings have handed down through the ages. Her new attitude on life sounded too dangerous. One day, when Isis was casually stepping over some buildings on her way around the city, the general of the guards and three other men tried to run a huge spear into her foot. The poison tipped blade never penetrated her skin; it just seemed to bounce off. Isis was about five palm trees high this day and she was able to snatch up two of the men right away. One man was stepped on by the foot he had just tried to spear. The general ran into a guard tower next to the wall. She casually reached down and tore off the whole upper half of the tower as though it was made of eggshell. She then reached in and grabbed the perpetrator. Holding the general in her right hand and the other two in her left, an explanation was demanded. The general was bold; he spoke and condemned Isis and her vision for men and women. He felt as the majority of men and Uukbah felt. Isis must be stopped.
To Isis, it was an amusing little incident. She was surprised at the courage of the little man in her right hand squeaking at her with such defiance. However, her feeling of annoyance at such thinking caused her to pass judgment. Isis spoke to the little man with volume causing him to cover his ears. "Wars, hatred, crime, and sadness. That is all men are capable of!" She boomed. "All of our history is filled with war and destruction because of the greed of men! I am going to bring to this land a new era and man and his small thoughts will be an insignificant part!" Isis gave the little man an angry glare, then to make her point that such insolence would not be tolerated, she slowly tightened her grip on the two men in her left hand. They began to struggle, thrashing at the giant fingers coiled about them. The general watched in horror as the two men began to scream for mercy, but to no avail. The sound of popping and crunching bones met his ears, followed by their last gasps and shrieks. Isis continued squeezing until the men were limp. She then opened her hand and let their bodies fall to the ground far below. When the general looked back up to Isis's huge face before him, she had a slight smirk on her lips. "I have one more little problem to deal with." She said. Isis lowered the general and roughly dumped him on the ground. She then raised her massive foot over him and smiled. "This should show these insects that my word is law." She thought. But before she could bring her huge foot down to squash her victim, that strange tingling sensation returned to her.
Uukbah watched as Isis raised her foot over the
general. He was sure that he was about to see a brave man die a horrible death when suddenly, Isis started to shrink before his very eyes! Uukbah could not believe what he was seeing. He had never seen Isis change her size and it was an amazing sight. However, he also noticed a very surprised and shocked look on her face and as she slowly diminished in height, her beautiful face seemed apprehensive. As this size change slowly continued, it seemed to Uukbah that Isis could not control what was happening to herself. She was a goddess however, and everything she does has a purpose, or does it? The crowd gasped at the sight of their great goddess diminishing in height. Everyone took a step back at once and fell silent, holding their breath and watching what they think is yet another miracle. Isis was a tall woman even at her normal height, so when she stopped shrinking, she was still an imposing and beautiful figure to behold. Uukbah watched her curiously. Isis looked startled, looking quickly around. She then looked down at the awestruck general who was still on the ground where she had dumped him. "Get up and face me!" She commanded. To Uukbah, she now looked and sounded confident and defiant although her voice did quiver a bit. The general slowly rose to his feet and stood before Isis. "To think that moments ago, she held the general in her hand as if one would hold a mouse." Uukbah thought. "Now they both face each other at eye level."
"Do you still wish to kill me?" She demanded.
"I have made it easy for you now!" Isis picked up a spear lying on the ground and tossed it to the general. "Now is your chance to stop a goddess little man!" Isis stood before him with her hands on her hips and a smirk on her lips, her defiant gaze never leaving the generals eyes. The general was now confused as he nervously fingered the spear in his hands. His mind raced with what he could do with the weapon in his hands. He also remembered the sight of her huge foot hovering over him and the way his men had easily been crushed in her grasp. "Well?" She demanded. "What are you going to do?" The general looked at the beautiful woman before him, then looked down at the spear in his hands and then over at the bodies of the men she had crushed. He fell to his knees and dropped the spear on the ground. Who was he to argue with the gods or goddesses? Isis's size change had given him something to think about for it was a miracle for him to behold. He pledged his loyalty and asked for forgiveness. "Do with me what you want goddess, my life is yours."
Uukbah watched a satisfying grin sweep over Isis's face and a composure appear he noticed that she only had when she was as tall as the heavens. Any uncertainty she had displayed earlier was gone. Isis commanded the general to rise. "I am impressed with your boldness." She said. "Instead of punishing you, I command that you take charge of my temple guard. I will leave the security of my new temple to be your responsibility." The general was very gracious and thanked Isis by kneeling and kissing her very hand that held him captive earlier. The crowd that surrounded them and witnessed the whole incident broke into cheers. Their goddess was a merciful goddess after all. Uukbah was snapped out of his doubts when he was suddenly aware that Isis was now staring at him! "Take me to my temple, I want to see how it progresses"; she commanded.
